My new dance, No More, No More is finally up! This is a beginner/improver dance to a song I often heard while driving, and I got the inspiration at the wheel. The song is fun and lively so dancers can add their own movements and styling to make the dance more interesting. I especially like to twist my wrists when Mr A-Z sang “no more, no more”…
Stepsheet is up in Yipee, you can also copy/save and print the stepsheet from below.

Janice’s leaving KL :-( August 31, 2008

Oh yeah, u may have noticed that we’ve a new “video” venue. It’s actually at the poolside of my home. We were actually having a farewell party for Janice, who is moving to another state 400 km away…
And at the farewell party, what else better to do than dance?! We had line dance music blarring the whole night through, and we were dancing with our slippers. Janice gave us all a birthday gift in a form of a new choreography: Whoopsie. (See the earlier post) I also took the opportunity to share my new dance, No More, No More.
Boy, am I gonna miss Janice
. I would really miss dancing with her as we always discuss extra styling, tips etc for every dance that we learnt. We also taught each other new dances and giving each other support in our choreographies and personal life! LOL. She’s indeed my good friend. And yeah, my itemised phone bill is filled with her numbers…
I remembered the first time we met at a local gym (during dance class, where else?!) 2-3 yrs ago. We were having a steam bath after 2-3 hours of dancing, and she proudly claimed that her school was the only school in the whole of Malaysia that had dance classes in the timetable. I asked her sceptically ”Which school?”, because I knew my school had dancing as part of the scheduled timetable too. And she replied, “Convent Bukit Mertajam”. That’s the start of a great friendship as we realised we were both from the same alma mater! We never knew each other as our age are 6 years apart, and when I dug out my 1983 Yearbook, we noticed that both our pictures are in that book, me in the primary school, while she was in her secondary years! LOL
The consolation of her leaving, is well, she’s moving to her hometown, which is also my hometown
. So when I return, we will still get to meet and hopefully dance together and catch up on the lost times! Here’s wishing Janice the very best in her new life in Penang. We’re gonna miss u so much, and I’m sure you’d be missing the whole lot of us here too.

Youtube viewing problem – solved – hopefully! August 29, 2008

NEW NOTES: Haiya… The videos are becoming “unavailable” again. I guess Sue-Yuan’s way is just co-incidental. Anyway, youtube has been very buggy lately and I’ve found a solution which works. Just keep reloading the page until the video appears. The video should appear within 5 tries!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I’ve got some comments from avid youtube users that they too can’t view certain videos as they had ‘apparently’ been ‘no longer available’.
Sue-Yuan of Alabama wrote me the solution. She said, change your password and it’ll work!
Haha, although illogical as it sounds, I changed my password, and voila! the ‘no longer available’ videos became ‘available’ again! Do try to change ur password when you can’t view any video, and hopefully, this is the solution and not just a co-incidence!
Thanks, Sue-Yuan for the solution! I can now watch youtube videos again
My new dance: No more, No more August 22, 2008
I have a new dance coming up. This time, I’ve choreographed a simpler dance to the song I’m Yours by Jason Mraz. I’ve rated it beginner/improver. It has 64 counts, 4 walls and a tag.
I kept hearing this song on the radio while driving and believe it, the steps come naturally in the car (although my foot is on the accelerator and sometimes brake)! I’ve put the steps down on paper but will be taking these few days to improve it or polish it. The song is very soothing and nice and I hope everyone will like it and be able to dance it, since it’s so much easier compared to Hare Ram/Arabian Eyes.
Once the choreography is finalised, I’ll post it up plus video etc. Meanwhile, do keep an eye open for my new dance, No More, No More, hitting the New Dances chart of Yipee soon.
I was teaching Arabian Eyes last week and a family from Saudi Arabia walk past the studio where I was teaching. The family, who was on a vacation here in KL, was so enchanted by the dance and they stood outside the studio and watched us. The youngest girl, Razan, 11, had wanted to join us the following week.
This week, Razan came. She said she’s been doing Egyptian and Arabian dance back home in Saudi Arabia. She could only join my class for 2 weeks as she would be heading back home.
Razan absolutely love Arabian Eyes! Although line dance steps are abit tough for her, esp as Arabian Eyes is rated Intermediate, she could do the hiprolls and hipdrops very well. She’s Arabian, afterall!
It’s such a pity that she can’t stay longer. But I’m really glad that Arabian Eyes has been danced by a real Arabian girl.
Niels Poulsen’s Bubbly Smooth – Really Smooth! August 7, 2008
I picked up Bubbly Smooth last night and immediately taught my class today! It’s such a smooth and nice nightclub dance to the sweet song Bubbly by Colbie Caillat. It’s just 32 counts/2 wall with a 1 count tag+restart. This is the first time I came across a 1 count tag! The dance is rated beginner/intermediate.
Niels, as always, did a great job on this one. The steps fitted the music nicely. The tag and restart fitted in really well. Adding arm movements to the dance made the dance more sensual. I love it!
When I printed the stepsheet from Yipee last night, there were some errors on the “clocks”. However, it has been rectified.
I found this Arabian Eyes video on youtube and thought I’ll share it over here. For some unknown reasons, I was unable to view it “live” on youtube as a message showed “We’re sorry, this video is no longer available.” However, the link on Yipee was working, so in case you can’t view it “live” from Youtube, can click on the yipee link too.
Anyone knows why several videos are “unavailable” to me, but others are still able to view it? Tonight alone, I’ve encountered several unavailable problems – among others, Rep Ghazali’s new dance – Not A Limbo (linedqueen) and Angel (hotlinerz). But I was able to view other youtube videos. Weird huh!
