Elevator – possible 3rd restart? October 29, 2008

I love the dance and song for Elevator (Neville Fitzgerald & Julie Harris) and have always loved their choreographies! However, I wonder if anyone else share my feelings that there should be a 3rd restart after count 48 on Wall 5? All step sheets mentioned only 2 restarts on Wall 1 and 3.
I had at first thought perhaps my song version was wrong, but after hearing it in parties, the song has the same phrasing: 48 counts for the each verse and 64 counts for the chorus. And the song goes verse – chorus – verse – chorus – verse – chorus… Some versions have a remixed “hip hop dot com” rap but the phrasing is still the same. Or perhaps I did not get the latest/updated script?
It’s driving me crazy to continue doing the last 16 counts of the dance when you hear the chorus coming up (which has 2 earlier restarts on the exact spot)! I’ve written to Neville & Julie but there has been no reply yet, so let me throw this question to the ‘dancefloor’. Do get a good listening of the song first and vote below!
Alright, just got a reply from Neville on this one this morning:
Hi Sue…
Your song version is the correct one…. Dance was done with just the two restarts even tho it could have had three..
Reason being was i wanted to do the kicky wiggly bit at front & back…. & it still fits well… tho i suppose that bit stands out like a sore thumb to you now… but it is how it’s meant to be..Nev
So, I guess, we just need to accept that ’sore thumb’… Thanks for the reply Nev!

I had left the tripod at the door and in my haste and excitement to rush to Mr Leong’s party, I had forgotten to take the TRIPOD. I had packed enough SD cards, enough Camera batteries to take loads of photos and videos… and yet, I forgot the most important thing, the camera’s legs!
Arggghhhh!!!
As I didn’t want to bog down my friends to take videos whilst they have paid to enjoy themselves… I settled with only 3 videos this time. Thanks to Judy, Mary and Desmond for taking each of the following videos! Or else, I’ll end up with NONE!
Here’re the videos:
Sorry, the audio is too soft, so you’ll need to increase the volume of your speakers to hear the music.
Do check out the photos from my facebook album too. http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=80130&l=b6379&id=657920015
Got a funny line dance story to share? October 21, 2008

Haha, I’m sure everyone has a funny line dance related story.
Here’s mine:
I was stuck in a non-moving traffic jam one day near the Turf Club roundabout, and had my line dance CD blaring from my car speakers. As I will be teaching Hare Ram in an event the following week, and the song just came on, I thought, hey, why not practice the call cues in the car, or I’ll be wasting the evening away in the jam, anyway.
So I started counting, and totally oblivious to my surroundings besides inching forward every time the car in front of me move forward. I was so into the music that my body started moving and shaking (without me realizing) to the music. I’m not sure how long that went on (as I was in total oblivion) and I kept replaying the song to practice.
I suddenly felt someone was watching me and as I looked up and woke up from my own world, I saw a lorry driver in the left lane, slightly in front of my car, looking at me and shaking his body too! (I can see it as his lorry doesn’t have a door) As if he knows I’m dancing and wants to dance with me!
I was so totally embarrassed but refused to give in to his taunting. I ignored him and continued doing what I was doing and hoped he won’t enjoy embarrassing me, LOL. Too bad, the jam was still like that and my car was in his visible sight all the time… I finally lost him when I got out of that jam.
Haha, anyone else has a funny story to share? Do post them in the comments section. Can’t wait to read about others’ funny stories!
I know one guy (name witheld for confidentiality) whom I met at a party said that a lady had accidentally hugged him as she forgot to do the tag for Heart of an Angel!! He couldn’t continue the dance after that as he felt “molested”. haha…
Tips for Johnny’s Girl October 20, 2008

Due to the phrasing of the song, the phrasing of the dance Johnny’s Girl may seem kinda difficult when you do it for the first few times. So here’re a few tips on how you can remember the phrasing better.
The full sequence is: 64, Tag, 64, 36 (Restart), 64, Tag, 36 (Restart), 64, Finale
- TAG – The tag is done when you come to both the side walls for the first time (9:00 and 3:00 walls).
- Restart – The restart is done on the 6:00 and 3:00 walls, specifically when Johnny sings:
I’m praying, I’ll stay in her heart forever more, But she’s the girl I dream of, that I’ve been waiting for.
The music here is different from the other verses. Be prepared to do the restart during your 8 count twists/swivels, then do the next 4 counts (Left Side Rock Cross Hold) and RESTART.
- Last 8 counts (Count 57 -64) – Many first time dancers to this song, find it hard to connect the last 8 counts. These 8 counts are actually smooth and doing a half turn left. Practise more on this 8 counts and you’ll get it.
- Finale – Don’t forget to do the finale when your face the front wall again for the first time!
Hope you enjoy dancing to Johnny’s Girl
Small text? Try this… October 15, 2008

Well, I’ve got some feedbacks saying the texts in my blog are too tiny to read. As I’m unable to change the font size of the texts, I’ve got a solution to enlarge the texts here
Simply press and hold the CTRL key on your keyboard and then press the + key. If the font is still small, repeat the process few more times until the size is big enough for you to read. Try that now and see if it works
Now, everyone can enjoy reading my blog without straining their eyes!

Ya’e of Teluk Intan has done up a video of No More, No More with her students. She prefered the “radio edit” version and so has chosen to dance that
Well done, Ya’e and students!! I love the song so much, I’ll never get sick of listening to it!
