I was in Singapore from 23-26 November and managed to meet up with Joyce Lim (JusDanz). We have not met or communicate before although we’re quite near in terms of locality, but it took a common friend from UK to introduce us both… haha! Thanks to Mike, we met up, had dinner and most importantly, danced together!
I “gatecrashed” into her class at YMCA about 45 mins after the class started and we met for the first time. She was recapping Sailing (Jo & John Kinser) to her beginners and I jumped in. I managed to pick it up easily as the steps are basic NC2S steps. Danced it for 2 rounds.
After that, Joyce and I demo-ed the dance Hare Ram to her beginners, and to both our surprises, the class had already known about the dance Hare Ram!
After class, Joyce and another student, Matina, took me for some sumptuous seafood dinner at Newton. Yummy!! Thanks to Joyce for a wonderful night! Will see you and your students again in 2 weeks time, this time in JB!
That’s how fun line dancing can be… you make lots of friends from another country/state who share the same passion. When you travel, you don’t have to worry about missing your classes, because you still get to dance in the place u travel to!
Funstomper’s Country Rocking Time! November 23, 2008

I was at TTDI for Funstompers’ Country Rocking Time last night. The whole dance list are filled with country songs, some old favourites and many forgotten dances (at least I hv forgotten them!) In the end, I only knew a handful of dances by heart such as Go Greased Lightning, Islands in the Stream, Kiss Me Quick, Jukebox, Oh Suzannah, One Heart, Rock Around the Clock, Sea Salt Sally and Siempre Cha Cha! I missed Black Horse as I walked in late! Aiya!! The others are done by picking up from the dancefloor, and trying to remember what I had learnt 3-4 yrs ago and of course, picking some new dances as well. Haha.
Special guests for the night was Peter & Ee Lin from Yipee and Judy Teh from JB, who were on their way to Penang for the PISA event on Sunday (today). Judy Teh taught a dance called Saddle Up Shawty by Guyton Mundy which was fun, although Desmond and I had learnt it b4, we had a great time doing Yee Har!
No music was played during dinner time else the dancers will not eat at all and dance the night away! Indian briani rice with fish curry, chicken curry, dhaal, fried chicken and papadum was served with rose syrup. The most celebrated man of the night was the man holding the papadum tray, LOL, as everyone wants an extra serving of papadum. When he walks into the hall with a trayful of papadums, the whole hall was clapping for him. He must have felt like a star that night!
Margaret Lee went around the hall asking if we’ve seen Crocodile Dundee and everyone said no. She then pointed to her Crocs and her cowboy hat and said, Crocodile-Dundee! LOL, everyone had so much fun that night!
Found out that Wendee had 3 change of shoes, there was this fluffy boots and 2 pairs of ballroom shoes. Also found out we have the same shoe size, so I was trying on those shoes too
Although arriving late, I had to leave earlier too, as I had to finish packing for a business trip to Singapore on Sunday (today) and to finish the domestic chores for the week! I’ll be meeting with more dance friends in Singapore, hopefully!

My gang and I will be touring to JB come December for the Dance for Peace, Health and Joy charity event, organised by Dr Lim Jit Phong. As 8 Dec is a public holiday (Hari Raya Haji), we could all go to JB freely without having to apply for extra leaves from our busy schedule/work.
In case you haven’t know, the event will be held on 7th Dec (10 am – 6 pm) with over 100 dances lined up in the dancelist. Check out the dancelist and details under “Events”.
I will also be teaching my new dance, Innuendo, at this event. My gang and I will also be putting up a demo.
So, see u there in JB, in less than 1 mth’s time. Can’t wait, so excited… hahaha!

From now on, you won’t be able to find anymore of my dances on Kickit as I’ve requested them taken down due to some matters.
My dances will still be available on Yipee or other sites though.

OK, everyone’s been bombarding me with this question, what does the song mean?
So here are the lyrics in Malay and translation in English. I actually copy and modified it from here.
Seindah tiada lagi kau ku ingatkan * Beauty no more do I think of you
Sayang kau hilang * Unfortunately, you have gone
Menanti, biar sampai akhir hayatku * Waiting, until the end of my life
Di dunia ini * On the face of this earth
Kau tahu betapa ku sayang padamu * You know how much I love you
Hanya bidadari sebagai ganti * Only a fairy can replace you
Hanya takdir menentukan ia * Only fate can determine
Oh belaian jiwa * Oh the indulgence of my soul
Oh angin, sampaikan lagu ku padanya * Oh wind, please send my song to her/him
yang sedih pilu * Which is full of sadness and sorrow
Terimalah lagu ku jadi teman hidup mu * Please accept my song as your life companion
Untuk selamanya * For eternity
These are just direct translation of the song. If you have the underlying meanings for the song, pls write under comments. Also share with everyone, how this song meant to u

“Innuendo” – New Choreography November 2, 2008

I’ve just completed my latest choreography. It’s a 32 count, 2 wall nightclub 2 step line dance, choreographed to a popular Malay ballad remake – Belaian Jiwa by Innuendo. I’ve rated it intermediate/advanced.
I’m glad to say that I’ve completed the “multi-racial” bit by having choreographed dances to songs of the 3 major races in Malaysia: a Chinese song (Fairy Tale), an Indian song (Hare Ram) and finally this new one, which I will call Innuendo, after the band.
I also hope to share this beautiful Malaysian song with the world.
You can view the MTV of this song on youtube, while waiting for me to get the video done up. Enjoy the lovely song!
