Ivy, Vinh & Sue at Mr Leong's party
Vinh from Paris is back again (earlier post) to Malaysia for 3 weeks to visit her family. This time her visit co-incides with a line dance party she had missed the previous year. Mr Leong’s charity party at Cempaka Buddhist Lodge held on 11 July 2009. Vinh and her sister Ivy had requested to have Hare Ram included in the dancelist (Vinh had contacted me after watching my Hare Ram dance many moons back) so she thought it would be awesome to dance this with me in an event.
Thanks to Mr Leong for slotting in Hare Ram into the dancelist at the very last minute. As it is, the song got misplaced while Mr Leong surprised me to go up on stage to lead the dance. I quickly do a walk-thru of Part A and said I’ll cue the phrased part of the dance. Here’s the video of my cueing the dance throughout. I’m glad to see that people still enjoy the dance and song (can hear people singing at the background esp during the chorus).
5 Basic Foot Positions July 10, 2009

Many line dancers are just taught mere steps but not the correct foot positions which enable dancers to balance better and avoid injuries. Line dancing steps, like any other types of dance steps, use or derive from the 5 basic foot positions.

For example, when you do a grapevine, you are actually doing Pos#2 on count 1, Pos#5 on count 2, Pos#2 again on count 3 and Pos#1 on count 4. Check if your feet are in the correct positions and if your toes are pointing at the correct directions by referring to the diagram above.
Have fun dancing!
